For several years, the CEE Alborada (Zaragoza) has carried out a signage project integrated into the Center Plan to signal and adapt all spaces, through ARASAAC pictograms and photographs, with the aim of facilitating communication and cognitive accessibility to all students.

During the 2022-23 academic year, the center has started working on a new innovation project ” Pictorízate” with the aim of improving the school’s signage , increasing visual information to favor the cognitive accessibility of students and using new technological resources of Augmentative and Alternative Communication, as is the case of the dynamic communicator AsTeRICS Grid.

The project arises from the need to promote the development of language and its communicative functions (giving and receiving information, social interaction and expression of needs and desires, among others) in natural, real, motivating and meaningful situations.

Since these communicative exchanges take place in different locations of the center, the team of teachers of Hearing and Language, in Collaboration with different professionals of the center, has developed a communication board based on core vocabulary and others with their respective peripheral vocabulary, which are located in the different spaces of the center and support this communication.

In this project, the Signaling of the different spaces (classrooms, offices, rooms, …), the updating of the information boards, the adaptation of the menu board to the entrance of the dining room, the routines of the different actions that are carried out in the bathrooms or the adaptation of the information of the school garden, among others.

As you can see in the photographs that we show you below, a magnificent work in which the right to communication, cognitive accessibility and information prevails for all people.
